Newsletter September 2007
Hello to all the members of Ani+
As might have been explained to you when you joined, our membership year runs from the 1st of July to the 30th of June each year. This to simplify the administrative side of the operation as there are so few of us trying to run things whilst having full time jobs as well.
Earlier this year we spoke to a lawyer to have Ani+ registered as a legal charity. He has offered his services free of charge and although it has taken some months to finalise, we have just got the good news that all the paperwork is ready for us to sign.
For the remainder of this year we had to appoint three officer members as those responsible to uphold the defined statutes and control the finances entrusted us by the members to do the envisaged good work.
Trixie Flint and Johan Verhagen who voluntarily do all the hard work for the charity are the nominees and I have offered to take charge as treasurer for the time being. At the next Annual General meeting, all of you will have the opportunity to vote for whomever you feel should be appointed or to offer your services.
We decided to wait until we are legal and able to open a proper bank account in the name of the charity, before we sent out reminders that membership fees are again due for this next year 2007/2008.
We will thus email you again shortly to give you the bank details and with the request for you to transfer your valued contribution directly into the charity's account.
We would appreciate any feedback / ideas / opinions that you may have to help us grow and develop into an association with clout in helping our furry friends. If all of us animal lovers can pool our skills and wisdom together surely it must lead to success.
Also, I would appreciate if any of you who have the time could send the lawyer Nuno Marques a short a thank you email for helping us for free. He is also the lawyer who defended the case of the starved horses in court for us last year. marques-serra.adv@mail.telepac.pt
Take care, Amélia
