The lively market town of Arganil (population about 4,000) nestles in a valley surrounded by the stunning mountain countryside of the Serra de Açor (Goshawk Mountains). The weekly market is a popular meeting point for local ‘expats’ to catch up on news and gossip at the bar!

The town’s facilities include a weekly market (Thursday morning), wide range of shops, supermarkets, banks, post office, library, bars, cafes and restaurants, health centre, dentist, schools, parks & picnic areas, public swimming pool, and a riverside campsite.
