I have just read your write up on the first 6 months in Portugal and it all felt so warming. I am buying a property in Central Portugal in the summer and look forwrd to it with so much eagerness. I have always lovesd the people of Portugal. The are so warming and sociable. I will be retiring out ther in about 3 years time but will use the house for breaks whilst waiting. I cannot wait. Hi there we are currently living in Andalusia Spain where home schooling is illegal and very frowned upon! We are looking to move to central portugal and i am amazed and very excited to hear that home schooling is permitted! Struggling here for years taking our girls in and out of school has meant we understand the benefits and disadvantages of home educating but if the social groups are good and it is not illegal in portugal then we would love to hear from someone else home schooling there?

Thanks so much for this info. I hope you are right! My wife (and I) have been much stressed about taking our two dogs with us from NW Scotland to Portugal. They are both chipped and rab-jabbed, but we were told that there is a seven month process prior to travel and the vets we spoke to only seemed to have holiday-type information. Incidentally, Brittany Ferry’s site seems to indicate that they will only take dogs with passports on-board.
