Home Education (Homeschooling) is legal in Portugal, providing you make the inscription at the beginning of the year in any school.
Children are allowed to be educated by their parents or home teachers providing they take examinations at the end of each cycle (4th, 6th, 9th, & 12th year).

Hi there we are currently living in Andalusia Spain where home schooling is illegal and very frowned upon! We are looking to move to central portugal and i am amazed and very excited to hear that home schooling is permitted! Struggling here for years taking our girls in and out of school has meant we understand the benefits and disadvantages of home educating but if the social groups are good and it is not illegal in portugal then we would love to hear from someone else home schooling there?
