Looking for house sitters on our quinta for coming winter (2010/11).
The quinta is a country home on 7½ acres of terraced lands, with olive groves and pine forest. It has its own mineral water, and a small stream. Located in the beautiful countryside of Beira Alta, nested between two rivers; the Mondego and the Alva. In the background lies the Serra da Estrela, a magnificent unspoilt mountain range. One can ski there in the winter. Only 4km from Oliveira do Hospital, a small country town, where you will find all necessary facilities, such as banks, shops, restaurants, etc.

Hi Leondra & Rob , we are very interested in house sitting for you as we are interested in buying a property in this area and would like to spend some time there to get a feel for Oliveira do Hospital before we take the plunge of purchasing a property. We have two boys age 7 and 14 who love the outside life and nature. We presently rent our property in Cornwall UK having sold our previous property in the Cornwall. We are currently planning for a holiday in Oliveira do Hospital for around August time and could meet up with you then. My sister already lives near serta and is going to hold my hand. I am single, 55 years old and keep fit walking my golden retreiver dog in the forests around inverness. Hi, we have sold our house in the UK and expect to be in Portugal from September 2010 onwards. We are a non-smoking, non-pet couple, of independent financial means. We are looking to buy in Central Portugal and so we would be really grateful to have a base. Andy and Sophie should be able to give us a good reference as we stayed in their yurt in June 2008, that’s if they remember us! We love exploring and have a blog outlining some of our adventures when we were stopping in Central Portugal last winter. We would treat your home with much respect and care. Hello! I am a permaculture-certified, 26 year old single male who is looking for a property/smallholding/quinta to tend this winter in Portugal. As a former new media producer, I know the importance of attention to detail, and am no stranger to long hours and hard work, both in the chair and out in the boondocks! I’m currently assisting at a permaculture community in northern Thailand known as the Panya Project (www.panyaproject.org) but will be in Europe starting August 10th. I specialize in creating aesthetically and environmentally sensitive yet highly functional ecosystems, but natural building is also a passion of mine. I’m also handy when it comes to woodworking, plumbing, electrics etc. – I believe myself to be a highly competent generalist who loves problem solving. House-sitting position in Morocco sounds very interesting! We are, Sinisa (42yrs) and Sara (38yrs), married couple, no children, with a background in the hospitality industry now looking for a lifestyle change. One plan is to buy a property in Portugal or Spain and to lead an eco-friendly existance with our own vegetble pad, some animals etc. (Property hunting is how we came across this page.) Another option could be house-sitting in Morocco!
We have previously managed hotels in Bath (UK), Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and quickly adapt to new cultures and climates. References available. Love the nature and animals.
