In Portugal, drive on the right hand side of the road, and overtake on the left. The minimum driving age in Portugal is 17 years. All occupants of a vehicle must wear seatbelts whilst travelling, in the front and rear of the vehicle. Children under 12 years must not travel in the front seat of a vehicle.
Speed Limits: Speeds in Portugal are measured in kilometres per hour (kph). Motorways – 120kph/74mph (minimum speed 40kph/24mph) Open roads – 90kph/55mph Urban areas – 50kph/31mph Cars that are towing are restricted to 100kph/62mph on motorways and 70kph/43mph on open roads.
